Free DVD (or Game, or CD) Anyone? And the Crazy Camera Sale (sort of)
If you didn’t catch it in the Forums, you can get a free CD, DVD, or Video Game by registering at the Barter Bee website. What does registering consist of? You give your name, address, and phone number (must give your real phone number) and that is it. It took me two minutes and I ended up selecting the DVD “8 Mile” for free (the selection is pretty decent for the free items). This site is a competitor to the site that I mentioned here which does the same thing (except they only deal with video games). And who says you can’t get something for nothing?
So there was some crazyness today which I’m guessing you probably didn’t catch because it happened in the blink of an eye, but I was there firsthand and so I have the inside scoop… First, Walmart dropped the price of the Western Digital 500GB MyBook External Hard drive to $88. I was VERY tempted to pick it up but I held back because my 500GB drive still has about 300 gigs of free space on it, but I was still very tempted. This sold out about 30 minutes after I posted it in the Forums so I’m guessing only a lucky few were able to snatch it up at that bargain price. The second crazy thing that happened was a price mistake on the Dell website. Dell was selling the Fuji Finepix S700 camera for $229 less an instant discount. What was the instant discount amount you ask? Try $200 (obvious price mistake) which dropped the price to $29. Throw into the mix the fact that Fuji has up to a $50 rebate out there and you’d be getting the camera for free. People from all over cyberspace were hitting up the Dell website, I myself was and the site was getting soooo hammered that the load times were significantly delayed (which is surprising for such a big company like Dell). I was able to order 2 of the cameras and instead of choosing the free shipping I chose overnight delivery for $16 in the hopes that I would get it tomorrow (before they caught the mistake… yeah, I’m sneaky sometimes). I also posted this deal in the Forums (but the deal was dead literally 4 minutes after I posted it so I don’t know if anyone else was able to get in on it). Unfortunately, my order currently says that the item will not be in stock until 2/7/08 and then I will receive it 2/8/08 (gee thanks), so I’m crossing my fingers to see if it will actually come or if Dell will cancel the order in the meantime.

I received some of the things I’d recently ordered in the mail today. I took advantage of the Circuit City video game deal (buy 2 games that are $19.99 each for $30 total… but there is a mistake on their website and you get the 2 games for $20 total! (Read about it here). I also got my 3 seasons of Arrested Development from the Amazon.com deal of the day a week or so ago (for only thirty clams I might add!), and I picked up a few of the 4-movie packs from Circuit City (4 movies come in a single DVD case, CC was selling them for $10.49 each which is about $2.50/movie). And I got a few of the things I ordered from Amazon.com today, but I can’t mention what they are because I’m sure a few of the people I’m going to be giving them to will be reading this (but they were good deals). So I did a rough calculation of what the average price of the stuff I got in the mail today would cost, and on average it would cost around $350… my total sale price paid… $135.
Now I’m going to grab my club and bow + arrows and go hunt for some deals to post in the Forums. I’ll catch ya on the flipside!
