A Free Movie Screening, Some Deals and Deal Help, and My Day Today

nationaltreasure.jpg

If you live in NYC or LA and are free this Thursday night you could go a free screening of National Treasure part 2. I am a fan of the original movie and I will be seeing part 2 probably in the theater - though I’ll have to pay :( . You can sign up here to create a confirmation ticket which is good for you and one guest. But beware, you should arrive early because the theater will take people on a first come first serve basis and I have a funny feeling that there will be a lot more people trying to get in then there will be seating.

In the forums I set up a “help me find a deal” section in case you are in need of help finding a good deal on something that hasn’t been covered on UsedShoe. I cannot guarantee a 100% success rate, but I can guarantee that I (hopefully along with other UsedShoe members) will take some time to at the very least make an effort in helping search for the deal you need… This section does not charge $1.99/minute, nor does it charge a flat $9.99 service fee, it is FREE so take advantage of it if you run into the wall and could use a hand.

I posted a link in the forums to a discount for the Entertainment Book which you can find here. This will take $12 off your purchase of the book. If you are not familiar with the entertainment book you should definitely check it out. The basic premise is it is a book that is filled with coupons for different types of places in your local area. The book can run from between $20-$40 but the savings in the book add up to a lot more. It is particularly good if you like going out to restaurants, in my experience there are usually a lot of “buy one dinner get the 2nd dinner free coupons” which saves a good amount of money during the course of the year.

Some interesting deals that you may want to take a look at in the forum section are a woman’s Movado Amorosa watch for $210, the Magellan Maestro 3100 GPS unit for $150, and the Global Distinctions B1G1 free ottomans which just had a price drop from $59.99 (when I wrote about them in the Forums 2 days ago) to now $39.99 (with the opportunity to further reduce that price by $12!). And if you’re looking for some low priced video games you may want to check out this place which has some video games starting out in the $2-3 range (this is a blog exclusive, I haven’t posted this one in the forums yet).

Finally, some random odds and ends in no sensible order: I discovered that you can clean HD DVDs by washing them with soap and water, I tried this method and it worked successfully for one of my free Netflix rentals. Maybe I should have already known you could do this, but I didn’t, and it actually says on the Netflix DVD case to do this. I was part of a pot luck lunch today and my contribution was ice cream sandwiches (store bought). I was told by one person that ice cream sandwiches are not appropriate for a pot luck lunch, and another person gave me a high five for bringing them. I need a third opinion to split the tie, any thoughts? I almost didn’t make it to the pot luck lunch today because I had some issues getting out of my driveway. It was iced over and it’s a relatively steep incline so the tires kept spinning out. It also didn’t help the fact that I could use a new set of tires, so I’ll be searching for a deal on tires soon. If you come across any let me know. And finally I got the Beavis and Butthead movie DVD in a secret santa exchange last night and I’m pumped. It’s been a while since I’ve seen some classic ’stupid humor’ so tomorrow night they will be invading my tube. Have a good one!
