“The Golden Compass” Stinks
This is a bit off topic, but maybe not really if I save you some money. So I purchased two DVDs from Target one day and they had free movie passes to The Golden Compass inside them which I was excited about because I wanted to see the movie. I had seen previews for it and the movie looked really good. The previews lied. The movie was not good, in fact it was horrible. There were some cool graphics and animations I admit, but they could not overcome the fact that the plot was convoluted and so far fetched that I spent the majority of my time in the movie theater contemplating if I should get up and leave…
This movie is the first part of a triology and at the end there is no resolution, nothing was accomplished in this movie. With the Lord of the Rings there was a plot, a journey, a goal, but here there is nothing. I still do not understand the plot, the ending left me with absolutely no desire to think about what would happen next, and the overall acting left much to be desired. I’m not a movie critic, but I am a movie watcher and I can tell you that this movie may not even qualify for “renter” status (unless you are using a free subscription to Netflix or Blockbuster). So if you were thinking about seeing this movie be forewarned. I just checked out Yahoo’s movie section and 4184 users have rated this movie, and overall it has received a C+… and now on to some deals.

The Golden Compass” Stinks.
The trilogy (in paperback) is a good read and will make more sense than the movie. I know they changed too much content.
Let me know what you think after you read the books!

I’ll have to give them a shot if I can find some free time ever

So, did you feel the Usedshoe empowerment and demand a refund, or are you going to take them to small claims court for wasting valuable time?

haha, i’m going to learn my lesson and make sure I check out the user reviews on Yahoo next time before I venture out, though I probably could win a false advertising case in small claims court since the preview made it look like it would be a great movie!
as of right now, the UsedShoe empowerment doesn’t even warrant a free cup of coffee. but i’m working on it. by 2009 I hope to get large free coffees wherever I may roam.
