Buy.com finally caught on about their coupon mistake (after probably what was tens of thousands of orders) and started cancelling orders.  Yours truly had two orders which were “sent to warehouse” but now are “requesting cancellation”.

From reading various message boards it appears that some orders have shipped but the majority of the orders have been caught and cancelled before shipping took place.  Possibly a few “requesting cancellation” orders will have been shipped before the cancellation notice went out, it will take a day or two to find out.  Some people have been getting nervous saying that their invoice price has risen by $15.  To these people I’d say don’t worry.  The coupon has been voided which removed the discount from the order, but to my knowledge it is illegal for a company to increase the invoice amount after you had already submitted the order and received confirmation for a lower invoice price amount.  What I also noticed while reading some message boards were people who were bragging about placing 50 or 100 orders.  I’m all for getting good deals, but there is a line between taking advantage of a deal and becoming greedy and possibly ruining it for others.  I think this deal was very publicized across multiple boards (I saw it on 5 different boards) so it would have been caught sooner or later, but I’m sure if the order processing department sees 100 orders with a $0 cost for the same person that is going to raise some red flags.  At any rate, until the next deal, same bat time same bat channel…
